Julia began working as a Mental Health Therapist III at Sea Mar Des Moines in September of 2016. While originally from Chicago, she received her Bachelor's degree from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN and later, her concurrent Masters of Social Work and Public Health degrees from Tulane University in New Orleans, LA. Julia has worked in a variety of settings providing both group and individual mental health counseling and intensive case management to clients with issues such as mental illness, substance use, trauma, homelessness and criminality. She is now a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Work Associate in the state of Washington.

Julia is passionate about promoting health and wellness for the whole person both at the individual and societal levels and she believes that a compassionate, transparent and collaborative relationship is central to the therapeutic process. In order to provide personalized care, she blends a variety of evidenced based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy and Emotionally Focused Therapy.

Julia often uses mindfulness and meditation in her work with clients and is a Yoga Alliance Trained Teacher as well as a Certified Childbirth Doula. In her spare time she likes to read, go to the movies, be active outside, laugh with friends, cook and travel.
