Sea Mar Behavioral Health Services in Bellingham is hiring for a full-time Clinical Supervisor for the Behavioral Health Program. Seeking a clinical supervisor that is dually licensed as a mental health therapist and chemical dependency counselor, and certified to provide clinical supervision in both fields. The Clinical Supervisor is responsible for supervision of clinical staff; intern supervision; training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; assisting Program Manager with hiring and appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; contract compliance; carrying a small case load of clients to provide direct care; and other duties as needed. Applicants are expected to subscribe to the philosophy that Substance Use Disorder is a disease and total abstinence is the long term goal for recovering people. In addition, applicants should have motivational interviewing skills, strong knowledge of Recovery Principles including stages of change and strong knowledge of ASAM criteria and the ability to work within ASAM guidelines. The ideal candidate will be passionate about the population served and the recovery model, as well as familiar with psychotherapy theories and evidenced based practices.


Required Qualifications


  • This is a senior-level job with over three years of experience.

  • CDP required: must possess certification from the Department of Health Chemical Dependency Professional Certification Board (per WAC 388-805 & RCW 18.205) and meet criteria to supervise CDPTs towards licensure.

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, in public health, education, or social sciences and a minimum of five (5) years working as chemical dependency counselor.

  • Must also possess a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university, in counseling or social sciences. Dual Licensure LMHC, LICSW or LMFT required.

  •  Must have experience in clinical supervision. Must have strong ethical and clinical decision making skills. 

  • Must have strong organizational and interpersonal skills, communication, documentation detailed report writing skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Must have ability to learn and master electronic health record program.

  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
