About the Job


The Human Resources Generalist coordinates implementation of services, policies, and programs through Human Resources staff; reports to the Human Resources HR Manager, and assists and advises Sea Mar managers about Human Resources issues. The applicant must be highly motivated to take on new projects on a daily basis. Must be customer service oriented, able to multi-task, problem solve, and work with minimum supervision. The applicant will represent the Human Resource Department and respond to inquiries from employees, Sea Mar management staff, and members of the public; assess employee needs, identify and evaluate options, and recommend courses of action to meet those needs in a manner consistent with organizational goals and objectives; advice and counsel clients regarding applicable rules, policies, program requirements and options; analyze, interpret and apply complex human resource rules in resolving problems.


  • The successful applicant’s primary duties will be the administration employee benefits for the agency - healthcare coverage, life insurance, and disability claims.
  • Ability to engage with diverse staff and leadership to promote trust, collaboration, and partnership between programs and the Human Resources department.
  • High level of organizational skills and time management.
  • Ability to assist and act in a confidential manner.
  • Knowledge of the use of computer software including, but not limited to, Windows products and HRIS systems.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Able to work independently, apply critical thinking and time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Other duties include but are not limited to: general data entry, updating employee records, printing employee badges, assembling new hire packets, and some filing duties.
  • Will participate in all new employee orientations.


Required Qualifications


  • Associate’s Degree and at least three years of professional Human Resources experience or five years of paraprofessional level work in a Human Resource setting or equivalent education/experience.

  • Experience in administering employee benefits (strongly preferred).

  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite & HRIS applications.

  • Ability to effectively interact with co-workers and clients with diverse ethnic backgrounds, religious views, political affiliation, cultural backgrounds life-styles, and sexual orientations, treating each individual with respect and dignity.

  • Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred, but NOT required.

  • This is NOT an entry-level position.
