Kathy Willits began practicing at Sea Mar in 2014 and has been on the faculty at Washington State University Vancouver College of Nursing this past year. She will practice full-time in 2015-2016. Kathy comes from a family with deep roots in community health care and spent her teenage years working with her mother in providing care to the homeless population of Dallas County. She has extensive experience working with vulnerable populations who have little or no established healthcare.

Kathy has a doctoral degree in Health Services Research in which she focuses on the strengths and challenges of Medical Home implementation among children with special healthcare needs. She completed a one-year internship in Developmental and Behavioral pediatrics.

Kathy’s philosophy of primary care reflects the medical home principles of patient-centered, comprehensive, team-based, coordinated, accessible, and focused on quality and safety. “Sea Mar is continually aiming to improve the patient and family experience and quality of life for Washington residents. It is a privilege to be an integral part of our goal.”

When not involved in healthcare and Nursing education, she enjoys restoring a 1928 home, gardening, and is a Dallas Cowboys fan.
