Welcome to LEAP

Welcome to the Latino/a Educational Achievement Project (LEAP). In 2010, LEAP became a part of Sea Mar Community Health Centers.

In addition to continuing activities that LEAP began in 1998, we plan to seek funds to develop direct educational services that will help Latino students prepare for and graduate from high school and college.

Currently, LEAP provides student leadership activities for high school and college students, and sponsors an annual 3 - day educational conference and legislative day. Among other activities at conference, students participate in workshops, engage in peer-to-peer discussions, serve as leaders and presenters, and travel to the state Capitol in Olympia to meet their elected representatives and discuss education policies.

LEAP K-20 partners include school districts, community colleges, and universities in Washington State. The partners appoint representatives to a statewide advisory board composed of educators, community leaders and students. Each year, the board determines education policy priorities that are aimed at improving academic achievement of Latino students. LEAP supporters then advocate for the priorities with state elected officials and others responsible for setting educational policy--State Board of Education, Higher Education Coordinating Board, local school boards and college trustees, and others.

Please contact us if you are interested in participating in LEAP. And, we invite you to take advantage of the many excellent health and social services provided through Sea Mar Community Health Centers.
