Loan Repayment for Providers

Providers who work at Sea Mar are eligible to participate in federal and state programs that pay their school loans in exchange for specific terms of service. |
|
|

National Health Service Corps (NHSC)
Provides up to $50,000 for 2 years of service. May apply for a 3rd and 4th year for up to $25,000 a year, and for a 5th year for up to $35,000. |
|
Washington State Loan Repayment
Provides up to $25,000 a year for a minimum of 3 years of service. May apply for a 4th and 5th year for up to $35,000 a year. |

For both programs, the application process has 2 parts.
1. First, Sea Mar applies to have the site where you work become eligible.
2. Second, you apply to participate in the program.

NHSC

Site applications may be submitted at any time. Sites
approved for the program remain eligible for 3 years.
Many Sea Mar sites are already eligible. If you want to
apply, ask us about your site. If it is not already
eligible, we will apply to make it so.

Provider application deadline is usually in February
each year. This year, because of the federal stimulus
funding, there are multiple deadlines. The next ones
are:
- April 29, 2010
- July 29, 2010

Washington State
-
Site application deadline is in early September each year. Sites approved for the program remain eligible for 1 year only, unless a provider at that site is in the program. Many Sea Mar sites are already eligible. If you want to apply, ask us about your site. If it is not already eligible, we will apply to make it so.

The next provider application deadline is April 30, 2010. The deadline is always in the early spring.

Requirements for Participation |

Must be a US citizen.

Must be employed by Sea Mar or have a signed contract to work here.

Must work 40 hours per week, including 32 hours of patient care.

Must commit to at least 2 years.
