Welcome to the Sea Mar Community HealthCorps Site! We are over a dozen AmeriCorps volunteers serving at Sea Mar Community Health Centers in South Seattle, Washington. Sea Mar Community Health Centers is a community-based organization committed to providing quality, comprehensive health and human services to diverse communities, specializing in service to Latinos. A large health center with over 25 facilities, Sea Mar offers medical, dental, behavioral health, substance abuse treatment, nursing home services, a child development center, and farm worker housing. The HealthCorps program’s foci are service and supported learning. AmeriCorps members provide service while enhancing skills, vision, and professionalism in one or two departments. Personal growth is also fostered through a highly supportive, challenging, and educational team environment. The Sea Mar program began in 1995 and is an original HealthCorps site. |

Year after year, Sea Mar HealthCorps members are committed to improving access, increasing utilization, and providing health education for the medically underserved of western Washington, with a focus on South Park, Seattle. HealthCorps members share a commitment to their own growth and development through receiving training, providing service, and engaging in team work. These create the ground work for next steps in the careers of HealthCorps alums as our future health care leaders and as leaders in all arenas of civic service. Do you want to join in? |

The Community HealthCorps experience includes daily service in a specific department of SEA MAR CHC or a partner site/health center, and participation in team-led outreach projects and regular team trainings (topics include health outreach and education, health care policy, CPR/First Aid, environmental impacts on health, professional development topics, etc). A full-time contract includes a living allowance, benefits, and an Educational Award of $4,725! Full-time, Half-time, and quarter-time contracts available. |
HealthCorps members choose amongst a variety of departments and programs for their term of service (placement depends upon member interest and health center need). We’ll place members not only in traditional placements in Sea Mar, but also amongst four other community health centers in King County.
