Institution: Lesley University, Cambridge, MA
Area of Specialty: Children and Families

Nadia Rachel has been a mental health provider for people across the lifespan since 2013. She has been a Child and Family Clinical Therapist with Sea Mar since March 2017, having worked as a school-based therapist for 6 months, then moved to Ireland and worked in private practice for a year. While there, she was on the executive board of the Irish Association of Creative Arts Therapists. Nadia has since returned to work in schools with Sea Mar, as of September 2018. Her primary degree is in Psychology, which she received from her hometown's college, the University of Memphis. She then received her graduate degree from Lesley University in Cambridge, MA, a Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling specializing in Dance/Movement Psychotherapy.

Based on Analytical, Humanistic and Integrative theories, Nadia uses play and tools for creative expression - visual arts, poetry, music, dance/movement, and drama - in combination with mindfulness and meditation skills training, and behavioral therapies of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. She additionally received her Master's in Design for Human Health from the Boston Architectural College. With this, Nadia also specializes in Environment and Behavior design. In treatment, she applies an education of the physical space as a part of recovery, where necessary. Nadia has presented workshops for trauma-informed design and has consulted in numerous private design projects, including in the redesign of Stanford University's Office of Sexual Assault and Relationship Abuse Education and Response.

Nadia's overall focus is to provide a trauma-informed, culturally, and developmentally appropriate treatment. She believes that therapy is a learning process, and that everyone has a different learning style. Currently, she serves on the executive board of the Washington State Chapter of the American Dance Therapy Association.
