Dr. Rachel Hughes joined Sea Mar Everett Child and Family as the clinical supervisor in February 2018. Before working with Sea Mar, Rachel completed her master's program in Marriage and Family Therapy with concentrations in Addictions Counseling and Expressive Arts Therapy at Appalachian State University. She earned her Doctor of Philosophy in Medical Family Therapy from Saint Louis University. While at SLU Rachel received the Doctoral Student of the Year award for her dedication to scholarship and public service. Finally, Rachel completed a Medical Family Therapy fellowship focused on integrated care and medical resident education at St. Mary's Family Medicine Residency sponsored by the University of Colorado – Boulder.

Rachel is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and an Approved Supervisor with the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapist. She utilizes brief Acceptance and Commitment Therapy with a systemic emphasis in working with children, teenagers, and families.

Rachel feels most purposeful when working with disparate populations and improving access to care to promote whole-person health. She enjoys working with integrated care teams and in the community to break down barriers to service.

In her free time, Rachel loves to knit, read, weight lift, and get outside as much as possible. She loves to join community events and explore new areas both local and international.
