Monica has worked in the helping profession for over 8 years and is known for her compassion, ability to join with individuals from diverse backgrounds, and her capacity to hold a safe healing environment for her clients and staff. Monica received her Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy from Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tennessee December of 2016.

During Monica's internship, she was given the opportunity to work with individuals, couples, and families impacted by incarceration and drug & alcohol abuse. Post grad, Monica transitioned into her role as a 'Child and Family Services Clinician' providing therapeutic services to children, adolescents, transitional age youth, and their families in the office and community settings.

Monica joined Sea Mar's team in October 2021 as the Clinical Supervisor in the Puyallup Behavioral Health Clinic. Prior to joining Sea Mar, Monica served as the clinical director at a ten bed inpatient facility in Tumwater. Monica currently holds an Independent License as a Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate (LMFTA) in Washington State.

Monica desires to be a part of the solution by helping people reconnect with themselves, their families, and communities in which they live. Her goal is to continue providing quality treatment and support for community members she serves. Her main objective is to help clients and staff feel empowered through resources, support, and education. Monica integrates elements of cognitive behavioral, psychodynamic, and trauma-informed approaches to address anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, and other presenting concerns. Monica believes therapy gives individuals an opportunity to explore thoughts, feelings, and patterns of behavior through a collaborative approach.

In her leisure time, Monica enjoys spending time with her son, hiking, trying new foods, listening to music, the arts, and traveling.
