Her first five years of nursing experiences were in the acute care setting in oncology, medical-surgical and cardiac acute care. She worked in a safety net hospital setting and often cared for Spanish speaking patients. As the daughter of a Colombian immigrant, she feels a great connection to the Latino population and is eager to continue growing her Spanish fluency.

Shortly after becoming a nurse, Sara also began volunteering on medical mission’s trips to Peru, Brazil, and South Africa. These experiences helped grow an interest in working in health promotion and community health. In 2014, Sara began travel nursing throughout the United States, and fell in love with Seattle area. Her collective experiences motivated her to become a part of the prevention of common debilitating diseases. In 2016, she began her graduate degree in her home base of Sarasota, Florida. Sara is passionate about health promotion, preventative health, patient empowerment, and learning how to use resources wisely. She is eager to grow as a Nurse Practitioner in the residency program.

In her spare time, she enjoys reading, outdoors adventures, and cooking with her partner. She is excited to be living in the Pacific Northwest and become part of the community.
